The causes of physical disability in Yemen are no longer confined to congenital deformities or traffic accidents, or other incidents that may afflict a person at any stage of his life and in natural conditions. Rather, the eight years' war in the country a row has become, in addition to claiming hundreds of lives annually, the most productive source of physical disability, not to mention the psychological disability of its victims, which is the actual disability.
Physical disability is only one form of the war’s accumulated tragedies and grave crimes against human beings in Yemen, but it is the darkest side of the face of the monster that preyed on the lives of 30 million people. The amputated limbs, the cases of total and partial paralysis, and those scars on the bodies of the victims, are the witness that does not need many words to describe the ugliness of what the war has done to the people of the country away from the international spotlight. This is what rockets, missiles, and mines have done to the human being here, as their explosions dominate the screams of the survivors from their shrapnel and the muffled moaning that will accompany them for the rest of their lives.
In the midst of this constant bleeding of life made more gelatinous by war, people with disabilities stand up to the hideous ogre and say: We will continue to live our lives as they are; Yes, they stand even when they are without legs, without hands, and without seeing eyes. The more the ghoul multiplied their numbers, the more solid the soul and the will to live brighter.
In this file, the "Khuyut" platform has brought this collection of stories that represent vivid examples of this determination; Men, women and children, the war machine robbed them parts of their bodies and impeded the course of their lives. Sensing our moral and human responsibility towards them, we stress the paramount importance of positive sympathy with them; Not as helpless people, but in acknowledgment of their pain and what they have lost. Family, friends, doctors... Everyone around them is called upon to support them in transforming disability into an incentive to explore a new life from the womb of pain. A special life should not be without a dream and a passion for what they love to do, as long as the human spirit remains in the body, there is a lot that can be done. This is not limited to war victims only, but also applies to every person who has been handicapped by an accident or with whom a disability is born.
