The month of January 2022, was full of hot events that Yemen witnessed, and the country lived in its wake as an unprecedented escalation, with the Saudi-Emirati coalition intensifying its violent bombing of the capital, Sana'a, and various Yemeni governorates, killing civilians and destroying vital communications infrastructure, and the escalation of battles and acceleration of events in more than a governorate where Shabwa has the largest share of it.
At a time when the country entered complete isolation during the month of January due to a total interruption of the Internet due to an air strike that targeted a major communications facility in Al Hodeida Governorate (the so-called Internet portal) - on Thursday evening, January 20, which is considered the most prominent event during this month In addition, facilities used for detention in Sa'ada Governorate (Northern Yemen) were subjected to air attacks on Friday, January 21, by air strikes by the Saudi-Emirati coalition, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of more than 100 detainees, while rescue workers are still searching about the victims under the rubble.
Civil and human rights organizations expressed their deep concern about the escalation of violence and targeting of civilians in Yemen throughout January, and called for the protection of Yemenis from violations committed against them through independent and effective accountability mechanisms. Such intensification of violence requires rapid action to establish an investigation tool to collect and preserve evidence of serious human rights violations, and the laws of war in the country, which has been living on the grinding conflict for nearly seven years.
* In early January, with the New Year 2022, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) called on all parties to the conflict to end attacks against children. UNICEF has highlighted the killing or maiming of 10,000 children in Yemen since the fighting escalated in March 2015, the equivalent of four children per day.

* On January 17, the UAE authorities announced an explosion in oil tankers and a fire at Abu Dhabi Airport, which resulted in the death of 3 people and the injury of 6 others, While the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) confirmed that it had carried out a military operation deep in the UAE. In the evening of that day, an air strike by the coalition aircraft led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE targeted the house of the Commander of the Aviation College, Abdullah Qassem Al-Junaid, in the Libyan residential city in the capital, Sana’a.
* January 20, an air strike targeting a major communications facility in Al Hodieda Governorate, western Yemen, led to a four-day internet outage in most Yemeni governorates.
* January 21, Saudi and UAE-led coalition aircraft targeted detention facilities in Sa'ada Governorate, northern Yemen, where more than 100 people, either killed or wounded.
* On January 29, the UN Security Council received the report of the Panel of Experts on Yemen, which had sparked widespread controversy in its report issued in early 2021, accusing the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden and about 91 private companies, of manipulating and squandering the Saudi deposit, before they halt working on the economic part of the report.
* Throughout this month, Mwatana for Human Rights documented (9) air attacks launched by coalition fighters led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which caused damage and losses to civilians lives and/or civilian objects in five Yemeni governorates; the capital Sana'a, Saada, Shabwa, Hodeidah, and Ma'rib. At least 110 civilians, including 8 children and 3 women, were killed in these attacks, and at least 93 civilians, including 6 children and 3 women, were wounded.
